Halsey shreds G-Eazy on SNL performance

After a week of hype, Halsey delivered a Saturday Night Live performance to remember. Pulling double-duty as host and performer, Halsey roasted her ex-boyfriend, rapper G-Eazy with her moving but scathing performance of “Without Me.”

Halsey dropped “Without Me” last October after the two briefly tried to rekindle their romance. They ended their whirlwind relationship amidst rumors of cheating. Halsey even took some not very thinly veiled shots of her own in the aftermath.

In spite of the heartache, “Without Me” has become Halsey’s first No. 1 track as a solo artist, setting up her upcoming album to be her biggest yet. From getting drenched in rainfall at the MTV EMAs to her charged and poignant wlw-inspired performance the The Voice, every live performance has given the song a fresh look from a different angle. However, her SNL performance went for the kill.

Halsey took a softer approach, morphing the synth pop jam into a piano ballad. Midway into her performance, illuminated at center stage, the background lit up around her to reveal the walls scrawled in G-Eazy’s death knell.

“I’M SO SORRY ASHLEY I CHEATED,” the walls read. “AT HOME IN LOS ANGELES” “IN MINNEAPOLIS MORE PLACES TOO I CANT EVEN REMEMBER” were some of the most memorable confessions painting the entire set.

Halsey was pretty explicit about what she would do if she ever caught him cheating in “Him & I.” This was much better.

Halsey took to Twitter this morning to comment on last night’s performance.

Be sure to watch her entire performance.
