INCYMI: Pale Waves, Paramore, new beginnings & more

There’s a lot of music to keep track of and not enough hours in the day. That’s why every week, BANSHEE will catch you up on the music news you need to know.

Pale Waves drops debut album, “My Mind Makes Noises”

After releasing four singles, Manchester-native Pale Waves released their highly-anticipated debut album, My Mind Makes Noises. Released through Dirty Hit on Sept. 14, the album carries the listener through 14 tracks on muddling through the space where youth and experience overlap and unraveling romance. Their sweeping, ’80s-synth sound gives off endless summer vibes while also grazing darker themes (“Eighteen,” “Karl (I Wonder What It’s Like To Die”)

But that’s not all for Pale Waves. They revealed on an interview with Apple Music’s Beats 1 that they’re already planning to release a “more extreme” EP which will house songs that didn’t make the cut for My Mind Makes Noises. The EP is slated for February 2019.

Paramore’s Hayley Williams opens up about mental health, suicide prevention

Williams, who’s been open about her struggles with depression, made a series of tweets on Sept. 12 about trying to find joy even in bleak times.

“I hope that if you struggle with darkness that you will try and remember to let yourself feel joy when it comes,” Willaims tweeted.

These tweets come on the heels of After Laughter’s final tour. After Laughter, released in May 2017, deals with mental health and the trials of growing up and growing apart from people.

And speaking of which…

The end of Paramore’s After Laughter

On Sept. 15, Williams posted a series of blank images to her Instagram account.

While comments are locked, many have speculated the three posts are to visually delineate the close of After Laughter, Paramore’s fifth album, which officially came to an end on Sept. 7 at the “Art + Friends”show in Nashville, Tenn.

Alyson Stoner gets intimate on “Fool”

Coming on the heels of two hip-hop flavored songs is Alyson Stoner’s latest, “Fool.”

Released on Sept. 14, “Fool” is her “favorite song I’ve ever recorded.”

“I’m scared & exhilarated bc it’s the 1st song that dives into real vulnerability & intimacy,” she shared on Twitter. “Normally I jump to inspirational anthems. This time, I go straight for the feels.”

Stoner came out as queer earlier this year in an open letter published in Teen Vogue, saying that “she is “attracted to men, women, and people who identify in other ways.”

“’I met a woman today, I’m not sure who she is or what I’m feeling, but I think she’s going to be in my life for a very long time,’” she said in a text message she sent to her mother regarding the woman who inspired the realization that she is queer.
